Hate reborn
Posted On Friday, March 6, 2009 at at 6:05 AM by Pastor MikeOh those days long since past when we had a monster named Bush we could hate (sarcasm here). Yes, the remnants of hatred still hold true. The problems of today are inherited after all.
But we moved on. Now we’re being led by hope and change and love…lets face it: it just doesn’t inspire as much as hate. We need a new monster! We need a new baby killing, people enslaving, senior citizen hating fat white dude!
Once again, Obama gives us hope! A new enemy (actually, he’s not so new) to hate and loath! Rush Limbaugh, the face of the Republican…of manifest evil. Now the masses can focus on the enemy while those with the smarts can lead us to where they think we need to be.

You're hilarious.
Rush is such a great example for family-loving Christians to follow, isn't he?
We should all aspire to his mentality. The world would be a better place.
You know, Mike, as much as you try to deny it and claim you act out of love, hatred is what people perceive is in your heart, based upon your letters to the newspaper.
And clearly Rush's entire career has been built out of selling an inspirational hatred to the masses -- hatred for "feminazis," the homeless, minorities, immigrants, you name it.
Has he done one constructive thing in his life? Can you imagine him building houses with Habitat for Humanity, for example? Handing out food in a soup line?
I don't think so.
I just don't understand the evangelical religious right whatsoever at all, and that includes my own evolution-denying family.
The republican party needs no leader to tell them that raising taxes is wrong, however it is nice to have a whistle blower to report corruption when it goes on. Without people like Rush or Hannity, I think the American political news would be completely Obama-sided. I think, however, that people need to have a more global perspective on what is going on in the world, it can't all just be what America is saying....
I'm not protecting Rush. I'm a social conservative. I'm pointing out who has hate on their hearts. Bush is gone, we need someone to hate.
As to the tone in my letters...I'm strict, to the point, logical, and so on. There's no hate.
ON a sad note. The Baptist Pastor that was shot dead was the former IBSA director. Prayers to his family and church.
You may not feel hate in your heart, but your words are perceived as hateful. You refuse to accept gay people as they are. The impact of your words is to create a world filled with more hatred and intolerance.
People haven't changed their opinion of Rush now that Bush is gone. Nothing is different at all.
"We" need someone to hate? Speak for yourself, white man. How is it you can claim to see hate in others but deny it when they see it in yourself? You are self-righteous, Mike. You should feel shame that what you do is perceived as hatred and consider the impact of your speech.
Rush has nothing to do with morality or Christian values.
I've got enough on my plate at the moment, PM, but I have to say this post -- and the thread that followed and that I initiated -- has me upset.
I can't for the life of me understand why any Christian person -- who believe in following the example of Jesus Christ -- would find anything redeeming in the words and life of Rush Limbaugh.
I don't get it, unless it is just hard-core political partisanship.
Dont get upset...really. I think he's arrogant. I'm just shocked that Obama's team has done a study to see who the most hated republican is...Rush won, and now we got a new monster.
cant you see your own anger rising?
Smile dude. :)
Well, I feel a little better. I like Obama's ambitions and intelligence. But party machinations never surprise me. I've always thought Rush was a monster anyway. What good does he do? I guess I don't fear being taxed. Social services are a good and necessary thing.
Mike, I think part of the problem is that by your "sarcasm" you make it look as if hate is somehow only a problem of the godless left. But... christians are admonished to "Hate" evil aren't they? By that token, hate isn't exclusive & christians aren't really any better then the rest of us when it comes to hate.
PG I have been watching PM's blog for some time now, and I must say you seem like an intelligent person. But, you have no wisdom "for wisdom comes from the Lord". PM shows great wisdom for he is filled with the Lord! I have noticed that whenever he gives back a good argument to anyone, you twist it around and spew out anger and hatred toward him and all Christians. PM, you know the word of God says, "Do not cast your pearls before swine", and I say they will gorge themselves on them and give you back what comes out the other end! I will pray for you PG that the LORD will send the Holy Spirit unto you to convect you, so that you may fear God. "For the fear of GOD is the beginning of wisdom."
Anonymous, you do not have courage in your convictions, because you cannot stand personally behind your words and they are invalidated. You can claim to have wisdom because you are no one and cannot be challenged. PM supports the hatred, war, and greed that has been perpetrated by the evangelical religious right (via the Republicans) for decades now. They live under the illusion of lies. They deny science when it would be easy enough to see the science in the Bible. They perpetrate fear and hold (held?) on to power by calling for people to "fear the Lord." Actions done out of fear (of the "Lord," of hell, of enemies, of immigrants, etc.) are like tinkling brass. You can't be truly saved when your actions are born in fear. The fear of the Lord is better translated as awe. You have no right to judge others as Christian and me as not being a Christian. I am a Christian. PM claims to love things he actually hates. There is a time to hate and I do hate -- evil, fearmongering, war, and greed. I hope you read Leonard Pitts Jr.'s column this week about the hatred spewed by the Republicans and, especially, Rush Limbaugh, someone PM continues to defend. They actively aspire to the destruction of the country. They would prefer to be right and self-righteous rather than open up their hearts and their fists to work with others, to heal the immigrants, to cure the sick, the give to the poor. Whoever you are, anonymous, your judgment of me for not belonging to your narrow definition and class of people condemns you. Here's Pitts' article: http://www.miamiherald.com/living/columnists/leonard-pitts/story/936588.html
PG,
Here are two of your comments juxtaposed against one another: (1) “You can't be truly saved when your actions are born in fear.” And, (2), “You have no right to judge others as Christian and me as not being a Christian.” How do you spell hypocrite?
As to all this other stuff you write about me…you really don’t know me.
Anyway, good luck holding on to your (justified?) hatred towards all these that supposedly deserve hatred. My narrow interpretation says, "Do not let the sun go down while your still angry...or you will give the devil a foothold."
I have to ask, what we know about psychology (all that sciencey miencey stuff that us Christians cant grasp) (my bachelors is in psych by the way) and what we know about sociology (I will have an additional Associates degree in Social work this summer), most conservatively minded persons are that way because of conditioning, family dynamics, and, as Nietzsche (philosophy here) argued, even biologically preconditioned to be “religious.” So, given what all mighty science says, how can you hate someone whose behavior has been predetermined (be it from nature or nurture)?
You are calling me a hypocrite? You are defending faith born out of fear? Faith is born out of love. Faith born out of fear is not faith; it is fear.
There is a picture in the head of the religious right -- a picture of affluence, of two-car garages and deodorized bathrooms and comfortable (even if seemingly modest) materialism. The consumerist/capitalist way we lead our lives is unsustainable on the planet. For us to export this (under the guise of evangelism for Christ), and invade other countries to exploit their resources -- which we do all over the world (also under the name of "making the world a better place") can't continue forever.
Give up your preaching and give away your money. Do what Jesus told you to do.
Since we're having an education pissing contest, I have a bachelor's degree in Spanish, a master's degree in theater history, secondary teacher certification, and have published one book and hundreds of articles, most using my real name, because I am not afraid to state what I believe OR to change my mind.
This whole Republican self-righteous decrying of Obama (led by the indefensible Limbaugh, who should even on the surface signify ALL THINGS ANTI-CHRISTIAN) has to do with paying taxes, with money.
Despite their claims of doing things because of morality and family, it's really all about the money.
Pay your goddam taxes. Get with the program of what it means to be a civil society. That's what government is for, not for making corporations and individuals get rich off the backs of others. For Pete's sake. Who cares if there was evolution or not? Get health care to people who need it.
Carefull Skywalker. Your hate will pull you to the dark side.
I didn’t call you a hypocrite. I put your words next to each other and, appealing to your education, I asked you a question. The education references were a failed attempt to point out that your science crack is unfounded.
Masters in theater? I never knew. I want to pursue a masters in Christian philosophy after I finish a few smaller projects.
You didn’t answer my question by the way.
"Careful Skywalker. Your hate will pull you to the dark side."
True that. I struggle against that. I am aware. I sometimes succumb.
But that's how it was with Moses, too. He led the way, but was unable to enter the promised land.
I sometimes think it was like that with me and gay rights, too. I championed the cause, but could not be a member.
The question was: "So, given what all mighty science says, how can you hate someone whose behavior has been predetermined (be it from nature or nurture)?"
Got me.
BTW, I was raised very conservatively, very religiously. The rest of my family: hard-core, evolution-denying, Bush-voting evangelicals. I guess I was the mutation for us to evolve to a higher level. I was the only male child in the entire clan to also have male children, so the family name will continue with my mutation. Except for the fact that I have one black adopted son. If he is the only one of my children to also have sons, the family name will turn entirely black.
We can always hope.
Is it true that Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston have broken up? Do you think anyone on the right is going to talk about this?
Probably not. They nitpick the foibles of liberals, but conveniently deflect attention when they don't like the truth -- Rush's multiple wives and drug addiction, Palin's useless abstinence-only sex education, etc.
Is anyone on the right going to talk about this?
Yeah, I will. Drug addiction is wrong. Cheating on your spouse is wrong. Children outside of wedlock and divorce is bad for the country…and so on. I don’t care who does it, me, a republican, or a liberal. Moral truth is absolute and transcends man made boundaries. It is, therefore, not hypocritical to say a behavior is wrong and to have someone on “one’s side” to have broken the morally wrong behavior.
I just deleted my last comment. It came out in hate, I mean, haste and hate, I mean haste, makes waste.
But speaking of hypocrisy... when Palin's daughter said she was pregnant and all the right-wingers said how she was going the right thing and getting married blah blah blah.. what are they saying now?
I have failed in communcating some truth (and that's sad, I also have a degree is Speech/communciations :) ). I've never pointed to S. Palin's daughter (or to anyone else for that matter) as the poster child for morality.
Christ is the example. All others are sinful by nature.
Well, I've got nothing but love for what Rush is doing. As for what Obama is doing, well, so long as he finds some way to give small business owners a break.
small buis owner?
Maybe you're all right. Maybe Rush is right, too.
It's all about the money. All it has ever been is about the money.
So, fine. Have it your way. Keep the money.
I've got some other things to do. I'm unsubscribing to the comments.
"Hate reborn" when did it die so that it could be reborn?
Sorry, am I even allowed to comment on here anymore? I have no degrees except for the 100 degree fever I am running right now. :)
ahhh, but you're smarter then me so you stay..
I aspire to open my own small business someday.
Just to let everyone know and for PG's sake, I am no longer anonymous.
I'm sorry to see that PG took the attitude, "I'm going to take my toys and go home, I quit!" I was just beginning to enjoy pushing his buttons! I don't care if he knows who I am or not, that is not important. If you are still reading this blog PG, I did pray for you and I will continue to do so.
